Miguel started fixing sneakers to help his son with autism. Today, by giving them a second life, he is gaining his own.

It all starts with a lovely family story. “I started repairing shoes because my son, who has autism, walks on his tiptoes and ruins the tips of his shoes.“, says Miguel alias The Showlorios. Very quickly, giving a second life to old sneakers became his main activity. He then bought eight-dollar second-hand shoes in thrift stores and made it his mission to repair them. Until one day… a fully restored pair of Jordans catches the eye of a friend who advises him to resell them.”So I sold them for 150 dollars“, he smiles. But restoring the image of used sneakers is not Miguel’s only asset: he also has an unparalleled sense of humor.

Successive confinements and closed shops not helping, Miguel had to reduce his activity. It was finally his daughter, who, sensitive to his father’s humor, advised him to go on TikTok to do sketches while showing how he repairs his shoes. In about three months, he managed to amass a million followers and his videos are getting millions of views. Today, Miguel is paid thanks to a sponsor. “I am very happy to do what I do“, he rejoices.
