The Rimouski Book Fair is back in person
While waiting for the Montreal Book Fair, which will take place this year at the Palais des congrès (end of November), Rimouski will welcome more than a hundred authors from November 5 to 7, at the Hôtel Rimouski’s convention center. In particular, Tristan Malavoy, Jean Bédard, Laure Morali, Michèle Ouimet, the guest of honor Sébastien Chabot and Michel Jean, who will be the honorary president of this edition on the theme of Modeling the future, are expected. Please note: you must reserve a time slot (one hour) to visit the Exhibitors’ Fair, but it’s first come, first seated to attend the programming activities, which take place in two different rooms. Entrance to the Book Fair is free.

The trio is celebrating this anniversary in style, by publishing a giant and enhanced edition of the first title, Did you know Dinosaurs, available starting November 4 in limited quantities. “One day, the vet in me came up with the idea of producing a humorous documentary series. A collection on animals that would allow young and old alike to learn while having fun, ”explains author and publisher Michel Quintin at the end of this volume. The 75e The title of the series, devoted to giraffes, will be released at the same time. Sold more than 2 million copies worldwide, the books in the Quebec collection “Savais-tu?” “ have been translated, among others, for China, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Launch of the 2022 Hubert-Reeves Prize

The Association of Scientific Communicators of Quebec (ACS) launched the 2022 edition of the Hubert-Reeves Prize. This literary competition, created in 2011, with the collaboration of astronomer Hubert Reeves and his family, rewards the best popular science works produced in French in the country. In 2021, the Hubert-Reeves Grand Public Prize was awarded to Gilles Sabourin for Montreal and the bomb (Septentrion), a book on the history of the metropolis’ secret laboratories during the Second World War. The Hubert-Reeves Jeunesse Prize was awarded to author Philippe Lemieux and illustrator Garry for The history of cinema in comics 1 – The moving image (Michel Quintin), a comic strip that invites young people to discover the history of cinema in a fun way. Publishers across Canada have until December 12 to apply. The award will be presented in spring 2022.

Lévesque éditeur launches a new collection called “Vacarmeurs”, directed by Robert Lalonde, with a first title signed Marc-Antoine Cyr – Might as well stay there. The Quebec actor, a graduate of the National Theater School, who is based in Paris, tells the story of a motionless traveler who sends signals to a lost loved one from his Parisian room. He has already signed around fifteen dramatic texts, both for the general public and for children. In bookstores on November 2.

Author Hélène Dorion holds public meetings around her new collection of poetry, My forests, published in early October by Bruno Doucet editions. The next ones will take place on October 31 at the Appalaches bookstore in Sherbrooke (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.), and on November 4 at the Morency bookstore in Quebec City (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.). She will also be at the Rimouski Book Fair, from November 5 to 7.
