A firearm was found in a suspicious vehicle by police in Anjou, after shots were fired in the Mercier area of Montreal on Monday evening.
Bullet holes were located around 9:30 p.m. on a residence on rue Lavaltrie, near rue Lapailleur.
Verifications were carried out, but no victim was located, said the spokesman for the Police Department of the City of Montreal, Jean-Pierre Brabant.
Witnesses told officers they saw two vehicles leave the scene after the shots were fired, police said.
One of the vehicles was abandoned and found at the corner of Rondeau and Gabrielle-Roy avenues. A firearm was found in the vehicle and seized, added the SPVM spokesperson.
To complete the investigation, the two scenes on rue Lavaltrie and avenue Rondeau were protected by a security perimeter.
The canine unit was called to the scene, while the police had to go door to door to try to clarify the circumstances of the event.
