Spring-like early February

February begins with a beautiful spring day on Tuesday, when mild temperatures are forecast for several sectors of southern Quebec.

The mercury will approach the freezing point in Montreal and its surroundings as well as in the St. Lawrence Valley, since temperatures will fluctuate between -5 and -2 degrees.

Environment Canada is predicting sunny weather in the south of the province with nevertheless an episode of smog that should persist until early morning in Estrie and Beauce.

“Elevated concentrations of fine particles are expected and will lead to poor air quality,” the federal agency warned.

In Quebec and areas further north, the mercury should remain low, with maximum temperatures of -9 degrees, but the sun will be there.

In eastern Quebec, the same weather conditions will prevail, according to the federal agency. In the Bas-Saint-Laurent, the day will be sunny with temperatures around -13 degrees.

Environment Canada is forecasting positive temperatures for much of the south of the province, with snow showers for some areas.
