The reactions are numerous after the popular primary of the left, from which Christiane Taubira emerged as the big winner on Sunday January 30. The election brought together more than 390,000 voters. However, none of the other left-wing presidential candidates want to recognize this result and refuse a call for a rally.

In Clichy-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis), Chrisitiane Taubira’s victory was not a surprise. But the residents are confused. “There are too many candidates, there are enough, we don’t even know who to count on anymore”, says one of them. “The left is doing itself a disservice by breaking up like this”, thinks another. Christiane Taubira wants to believe it.

She called for the rally after her victory in the popular primary on Sunday January 30. However, this seems impossible, because for the other candidates, this primary has nothing legitimate. Jean-Luc. Mélenchon and Anne Hidalgo were quick to refuse this proposal. “I was automatically registered in an election in which I did not want to participate”, says Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Christiane Taubira therefore called on her competitors to respect her victory. Already a presidential candidate in 2002, she had been accused of dividing the left.
