increases for the main journeys in Auvergne

There are 15 toll stations in Auvergne, only in Allier and Puy-de-Dôme, on the A89, A71 and A719. A number that should increase next year with the commissioning of the A79 (the RCEA transformed into a motorway). Most of the journeys made daily or occasionally by Auvergne motorists will increase, like every year. Some examples for category 1 tariffs, which corresponds to passenger cars.

Courses that do not increase

There are still a few rare exceptions of journeys that remain at the same price. It’s the case for Clermont (Martres-d’Artière barrier) – Lezoux (€1.70), Clermont – Saint-Etienne (€10.70), Clermont – Lyon via the Balbigny bar (€16.30) or the passage to the Vichy-Bellerive toll gate still at €1.10 for the fifth year. The Clermont – Saint-Etienne route via the A72 has not increased for ten years, ie since the opening of the direct link with Lyon with the Bar of Balbigny; certainly a record on the French motorway network.

Limited increases

Most often, the increase is 10 cents, especially for fairly short journeys. On the A71, this is the case for example this year for entry or exit at the Gerzat toll barrier (€1.10); the fourth consecutive year of an increase of 10 cents after a period of relative stability. Plus 10 cents also for Clermont Riom (€1.70), Clermont – Combronde (€2.90), Clermont – Montmarault (€6.50).

On the A89, journeys between Clermont and Thiers also increase by 10 cents, €2.50 for West Thiers and €3.80 for East Thiers.

The strong increases

There are several, including two that stand out because they are located on fairly short routes. The first for the Clermont – Gannat route, widely used between Puy-de-Dôme and Allier. It invariably increased each year by 10 cents (the 2015 moratorium had been caught up in the following years) but this time it will be 20 cents more at €4.70 (for 38 kilometers of highway).

The second sharp increase concerns the Millau viaductan obligatory passage for many Auvergnats on their way to the south. Summer and winter fares both increase by 50 cents. The toll will now cost €9.50 from mid-September to mid-June (+5.5%) and €11.70 for the three months of the summer period (+4.5%).
