The Montreal police have opened an investigation in connection with the discovery of the lifeless body of a woman in a dwelling in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. A man who was present at the scene was questioned by investigators, but no thesis has yet been confirmed.

It was around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday that the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported having been called to this apartment on rue Bélanger, located near rue Chambord, to check on the condition. of health “of a woman who had given no news to her relatives”.
When they arrived at the scene, the patrol officers “found an unconscious woman, whose death was unfortunately pronounced on the scene,” reported agent Julien Lévesque, spokesperson for the Montreal police force.
“A man was also identified at the scene. He was transported by our teams. He will be met by investigators to determine his involvement in the event,” Mr. Lévesque also detailed. For now, the man is only considered an “important witness” in the investigation. “That said, all the hypotheses are on the table. We are ruling out absolutely nothing, ”added the spokesperson.

Witnesses have also confided to The Press having seen a man in white uniform being escorted by two officers in the back of a patrol vehicle, late Saturday afternoon. Others said the man had been arrested with the police in the past, in recent months. His identity is also not public at this stage of the investigation.
For now, the woman’s cause of death remains officially “unknown”. It will only be determined “in the coming days”, at the end of the investigation, the authorities said. The age of the victim is also not known at this time, according to the SPVM.
In the meantime, a security perimeter has been erected around the accommodation to allow investigators to comb through the scene and shed light on the circumstances surrounding this case.
