(Los Angeles) Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest installment of the Adventures of Spider-Man, continues to top the North American box office after grossing another $11 million over the weekend, according to preliminary figures released Sunday by Exhibitor Relations, firm specializing in the film industry.

The film, the first in the COVID-19 era to have raised more than $1 billion in North America and internationally since its release, thus retained the top spot ahead of the horror film Scream who had briefly dethroned him two weeks ago.
Seven weeks after its release, the Sony-produced film continues to bring a breath of fresh air to a cinema industry brought to its knees by the pandemic, with worldwide receipts of $1.69 billion.
The new version of the saga Scream, fifth of the name, comes in second position. The Paramount Studios horror film raked in $7.4 million in U.S. and Canadian theaters from Friday to Sunday, during a weekend when theaters were uncrowded.
Third place remains unchanged with the animated film from Universal Studios Song 2, which gleaned 4.8 million over the weekend.
Other Universal product, the Christian romantic drama Redeeming Love again came in fourth place for its second week of operation with revenue of $1.9 million. This parable of sin and redemption, set in California during the Gold Rush, was more popular with audiences, especially in the conservative South of the United States, than with critics.
The King’s Man, spy movie prequel Kingsman, with actors Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton and Rhys Ifans, maintains its fifth place with $ 1.8 million.
