Throughout the weekend from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 january you can take part in the 10th edition of the garden bird count. It is a favorite family activity.
Marine and Lisa have found the perfect activity to occupy their children: watch the birds in the garden for an hour. The rules are simple, you only have to count the species that land and note them on a sheet provided by the bird protection league. It is then necessary to communicate the data on the website “birds of the gardens”.
It is a fun activity but also essential for scientists. Each count allows them to study the dynamics and changes in bird habits. It takes an average of 10 years to know if a species is increasing or decreasing. In the meantime, an expert gives advice to optimize the reception of birds: the installation of feeders filled with seeds of sunflower corn also wild spaces.
