A few hours before the opening of the Short Film Festival, we are busy behind the scenes

In the Fleury gymnasium, near the Courbertin swimming pool in Clermont-Ferrand, the drills drive the last screws into the walls of the stands of the short film market. This is the last straight line for the organizers of the international short film festival which begins this Friday.

On the other side of the street, behind the Maison de la Culture, Romain stacks the boxes on carts. Today he delivers newly arrived magazines. And you have to distribute them quickly in all the places of projection, that is to say a dozen.

festival time, the organizers leave the Pier and take up residence at the Maison de la culture, in the center of the reactor. Beranger Debrand, coordinates the volunteers, and he wants to be optimistic: “The only small concern is if everyone catches Covid, but that’s not going to happen! [rires]”.

It remains magical for the spectator”, Fabien de Macedo, general manager of the festival.

Fabien de Macedo is the general manager of the festival. Today he manages several hundred people for a week, but before that he started as a volunteer in the early 2000s. And what he likes above all is that the spectators forget all the work necessary to achieve such a result: “I was a musician on stage before, and it’s the same. A spectator comes to see a concert, does not imagine that there are people who have mounted the lights since the morning, who will dismantle them in the evening, it remains magical for the spectator. And for the festival it is exactly the same thing”.
