Even if the weather seems rather mild since the start of the Australian Open, a storm named Ashleigh Barty is hitting the women’s draw. The world number one conceded only 17 games in five games, less than four games per game on average. She faces Madison Keys (51st), Thursday January 27 at 9:30 am, in the semi-final of the first Major of the season.

The American easily defeated Krejcikova (4th) in the quarter-finals on Tuesday (6-3, 6-2). She returns to the semi-finals in Melbourne, seven years after being eliminated at this stage by Serena Williams (7-6, 6-2), in 2015. The former world number seven has already tasted the joys of a final in Grand Slam at the US Open in 2017 where she lost to Sloane Stephens (6-3, 6-0).

The Australian is the favorite against the American, whom she has already beaten twice in three past duels, notably in the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros in 2019 (6-3, 7-5). She will be keen to qualify for a first final in “her” national Grand Slam.
