This is an investigation that has been making a lot of noise since Tuesday, January 25. The book “Les Fossoyeurs” comes out on Wednesday January 26 and reveals three years of research and testimonies collected throughout France to denounce the ill-treatment in the retirement homes of the Orpea group.
It is the cold anger of a son who has decided to recount his mother’s ordeal. Laurent Gény is convinced of this, for two years, his mother, Jacqueline, 85 years old at the material time, would have suffered acts of abuse in an Orpea residence located in the Alpes-Maritimes. “I found spoiled food in her room, my mother was left on the floor for several hours when she called”, says Laurent.
Laurent Gény had also lodged a complaint, because his mother had unsuitable seats for dinner, so she could not eat properly. The 57-year-old man decides to change his mom’s establishment before it’s too late. Today he is convinced of it, it is the economic management of certain nursing homes that has made the abuse possible. Asked, the establishment concerned did not wish to speak about this affair.
