Cité Clown will take place between January 28 and February 7, 2022 at the Cultural Center of Sarlat with four proposals. Contemporary clowns, others closer to the theater or the music hall. Or still others who pay vibrant homage to the traditions of clowns and to the clowns who have made the history of the circus.

Newbie? Participating in the festival is an opportunity to understand a little more about the world of the clown.
He’s not just the well-known fast food icon, or the hero of horror movies…with three clowns, proposed in the first session of the festival.
Laughing out loud
With Chick Capon. Mathieu Bureau says: “It’s, at the level of the clown, like Einstein for science. At the crossroads of the music hall and Monty Python. When I saw this show, there was a room of 200 people. They came in and thirty seconds afterwards, the laughter started. It didn’t stop until the end and a lady next to me couldn’t even breathe”.

The level of requirement of the Sarlat festival seems very high. There is selection. There is still a strong offer in terms of clowns in France.
Are you surprised?
“Obviously, when you are passionate about clowns, you know a lot of them”explains Mathieu Bureau.
“There is in particular the Grand Conseil mondial des clowns, the high-sounding title of a festival that has been held in Niort for a very long time, which is like a congress of dentists but with clowns all over the world. There are places where we can see a lot of clowns. There are open stages, there are specialized stages. There is a very well-known training school in Paris”… In short, there are many many clowns… and in Sarlat very soon.
