The situation has once again improved slightly in Quebec hospitals.
According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Sunday, the number of hospitalizations attributable to COVID-19 rose from 3,295 to 3,283 in the past 24 hours. There are also 273 people in intensive care, two less than the day before.
The Ministry of Health reports 5,141 new cases, a number that is not representative of the situation, however, since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles. Authorities have recorded 836,130 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The downward trend seen over the past few days has continued.
The average of new cases for the past seven days stands at 5,697, a drop of more than 29.4% from the previous Sunday.
Thirty-three additional deaths were added to the death toll. We now deplore 12,799 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.
The number of active outbreaks fell slightly from 1625 to 1623.
A total of 34,971 analyzes were performed on January 21. The positivity rate fell by 1.1 percentage points to 10.5.
No less than 75,299 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours, including 3,755 first doses and 53,800 booster doses.
The percentage of people aged 5 and over who received a first dose is still around 90%. It is also reported that approximately 83% of the Quebec population received a second dose and that approximately 39% received a booster dose.
