Having a late start time, they were among the least affected by the wind on Saturday.
They are one step ahead of Tom Hoge (68), author of four birdies in a row, from the fourth hole. Hoge’s only bogey came on his first hole of the day.
Also in the running are Seamus Power (under 16), along with their six rivals three shots from the top.
Power had an eagle on the sixth hole after four birdies in a row. “It was one of those rounds where everything was smiling at me for an hour and a half,” said the Irishman, who shot 66.
Power won his first PGA tournament last year in Kentucky at the Barbasol Championship.
From the lot at minus 15, Harold Varner (67) scored the birdie of 13and at 16and hole.
The highest-ranked golfer in the world, Jon Rahm, has to settle for 13 under after a 67. The 2018 tournament winner, Rahm putt 30 feet for a birdie on his last hole.
The top Canadian is Adam Svensson at 204, after a 68. Roger Sloan (71) is one shot behind.
Michael Gligic (72) and Adam Hadwin (68) sit at 208, one shot ahead of Nick Taylor (71).
Svensson amassed seven birdies, including three in a row.
