The section “The initiative” of 12/13 of Saturday January 22 takes you to a mobile police station, in a town of more than 20,000 inhabitants near Dunkirk (North).
It is the new ultra-sophisticated tool of the municipal police of Coudekerque-Branche (Nord). A city bus, completely transformed into a mobile police station and able to get as close as possible to users, who discover it with curiosity. Inside, there are all the comforts and necessities of an ordinary police station. A computer provides access to all the cameras in the town.
The mission of this bus is to bring the police closer to the inhabitants. “Most people don’t want to come to us because we’re far enough away.”, indicates Roland Tahaar, head of the municipal police of Coudekerque-Branche. For David Bailleul, the mayor, this mobile police station is also an opportunity to accentuate the feeling of security in the town. “Coudekerque-Branche is a relatively quiet town, but if we want to stay that way, we have to stay one step ahead”, he explains.
