While the Ile-de-France ARS is launching an advantageous bonus system to attract nurses, there is a “risk of uberization of health” alert, Saturday January 22 on franceinfo, Thierry Amouroux, spokesperson for the National Union of Nursing Professionals (SNPI). These bonuses, ranging from 4,000 to 7,000 euros are intended to compensate for the 3,000 positions currently vacant in Île-de-France.

Franceinfo: What do you think of this measure?

Thierry Amouroux: It gives a feeling of injustice among nursing professionals who have remained in place at the hospital despite the deterioration of working conditions and overtime. They are underpaid: a nurse starts at 1,800 euros net and will see these temporary workers arrive who will be paid 3,000 euros gross, plus this famous bonus which amounts to approximately 800 euros per month over nine months.

But money means that the motivation of the nurses is low and that it is necessary to help them in this way?

Given the pay gap, it could have the opposite effect. You have a profession that is underpaid in France, we are at least 10% below the European nursing salary. We have the impression that mercenaries are being incorporated into the regular army. People who are in the hospital today can say to themselves “but why stay underpaid when I can take this contractual status?” It is a risk of uberization of health.

These 3,000 vacancies in Ile-de-France are linked to what?

To the continuous deterioration of working conditions: reminders on rest, overtime, a loss of meaning between who we are and what the administration asks us to do. With fee-for-service, you have a standardization of care that is not suitable for a profession like ours, where we are there to take care of the patient as a whole.
