A new Honda HR-V this year

In a segment whose pace is dictated by South Korean players, the Honda HR-V is getting rather old. The subcompact crossover saw the light of day in its current form in 2014. The slight tweaks made over the past few years barely hide its wrinkles.

To become competitive again in this popular arena, Honda announced plans last week to bring a new generation of the model to market this year. To support a very brief press release, the manufacturer has published two illustrations showing what this newcomer will look like. We only know that it will be exclusive to the North American market.

These photos inform us of a desire to modernize the recipe with a more assertive visual identity and probably a little more interior space, without however going to play in the flowerbeds of the CR-V.

We also hope that Honda will give more resources under the hood. The current 1.8 L (141 hp) four-cylinder engine barely does the job. The engines of the Honda Civic could undoubtedly be used to add zest to the recipe.
