The 35th day of the trial of the 13-November 2015 was particularly difficult for the victims. For the first time, the voice of terrorists echoed through the courtroom on Thursday, October 28. Eric Pelletier, journalist for France 2, live from the court, details this day.
A sound clip of the Bataclan attack was played in the courtroom. “An extract of 4:30 minutes captured by a dictaphone at the Bataclan, where we hear the terrorists claiming their massacre live ‘for Syria and for Iraq’ they say”, he explains before continuing, “What strikes you is first of all calm and emotionless young voices.“
Unbearable sentences and the sounds of gunfire that plunged the victims back into this night of horror. “Some preferred to leave the room, others listened prostrate”. A recording which was broadcast for the first time for this 35th day of the trial. “This recording had remained under seal, but it was released at the request of associations of victims and its president”, he says. For these associations, it was essential to distribute such a document to show the determination and violence of the perpetrators.
