Actor Gaspard Ulliel died on Wednesday January 19, the day after an accident on a track in the resort of La Rosière, in Savoie. After a collision with another skier, he was found unconscious and transported by helicopter to hospital in Grenoble (Isère).

Gaspard Ulliel was 37 years old. His death was confirmed Wednesday, January 19 in the afternoon, by his agent. The young French actor had come for the day on Tuesday, in the resort of La Rosière (Savoie). At the intersection of two tracks, he fell on skis after colliding with another skier, who emerged unscathed. Gaspard Ulliel, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered a head trauma and was found unconscious.

For more than an hour, paramedics tried to resuscitate the actor. In critical condition, he was finally airlifted to Grenoble University Hospital (Isère) where he succumbed to his injuries. According to the director of station, the accident site was not known to be dangerous. “The conditions were good, the weather was great, after that it’s true that these are often conditions where speed can be important”, he said. An investigation has been opened by the Albertville prosecutor’s office, in order to understand the exact circumstances of the extremely brutal death of the actor, a young icon of French cinema.
