The 33rd Yellow Pieces operation has been launched since January 12. The goal is to raise funds to improve the daily lives of hospitalized children and adolescents.
In Côte-d’Or, no less than 89 projects have been financed for just over 1.2 million euros. Among the most important are those of the Dijon-Bourgogne (MAH) hospital reception center at the CHU, which was called “Parents’ house” until 2018.
Created in 2000 and managed by an association, it was able – largely thanks to the yellow rooms – to carry out very large expansion works to accommodate the families of hospitalized people.
Between 2000 and today it has grown from 18 to 58 rooms. Benefiting three times from 920,000 euros from this Yellow Pieces operation, including 420,000 euros for the last expansion in 2017.
420,000 euros in 2017
Henri Mazué, president of the association explains that “when we need to create or improve premises we don’t have any specific funds and can’t count on public intervention, that’s why we appeal for donations and we get the money from different organizations “. If we talk about the last extension of 2017 “We needed 1.8 million euros, so we had to write many files, in particular with the Yellow Pieces”.
17,000 overnight stays in 2019
In 2019, the Dijon-Bourgogne Hospital Reception Center provided 17,000 overnight stays compared to 11,500 last year due to Covid. Among the equipment allowing people to feel at home: a kitchen, fridges, laundry rooms, lounges and a play area fitted out 5 years ago.
