Sexual violence, Knysna, his conflicting relationship with Lilian Thuram, the former French international footballer opens up without taboos about his past in his book “I Love This Game”.

Patrice Evra, former Manchester United and AS Monaco player and French international (81 caps), gave an interview to Tout Le Sport, on the occasion of the release of his book “I Love This Game” (Hugo editions Sport), published on January 13. In this autobiographical work, he evokes sensitive subjects that marked his career and his life. The native of Dakar gives his version of the episode of the bus in Knysna, during the 2010 World Cup, which he affirms “don’t regret”.

From the beginning of his book, Patrice Evra talks about the sexual violence he suffered when he was a teenager. It is an approach “for other children, or other people, who are in this situation“, he explains. He evokes “the feeling of shame” that he may have felt as a victim and affirms that his testimony has enabled certain people to speak out, in private, on sexual assault, particularly in the world of football.
