The Winstub the Pfifferbriader of Strasbourg

In 1934, a winegrower bought the place, which then turned into a tavern. The name “Pfifferbriader” evokes in Alsatian “the Whistling Brothers” or “Flute Players”.

Indeed, in the Middle Ages, storytellers, entertainers, jugglers, singers traveled Alsace from city to city to show off their talent during festivities or seigniorial meals.

One of these low buildings has survived, frequented mainly by nobles from the region, who came to buy wine and bring their bread to eat there.

The Winstub is arranged on two floors and can accommodate 90 people. A beautiful 95-seat terrace, very quiet on its pedestrian square, allows you to enjoy both a good meal and an unobstructed view of the cathedral.

The atmosphere is warm and authentic with its wooden tables dressed in typical Alsatian “kelsch” fabric, complemented by traditional decorative objects.

The Pfifferbriader or the “Pfiff” as it is called by friends, embodies the soul of the Winstubs.
