Less than 3 months before the presidential election, France 2 inaugurates, on Sunday January 16, a new sequence entitled “If I were president”. She gives the floor to the candidates, to better understand the program of each. The first guest is the leader of La France insoumise Jean-Luc Mélenchon, from Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), where he is organizing a meeting.
First guest of the new 13 Hours sequence, “If I were president”, Jean-Luc Mélenchon presented some of his ideas, less than three months before the presidential election, Sunday, January 16. If he were elected president, one of the first concrete decisions of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, candidate of France Insoumise, would be to “make a social emergency law”. For this, he proposes to freeze prices, to increase the Smic and social minima “because people are strangled right now”. If Jean-Luc Mélenchon were to propose a major reform, he would advance “the change of the Constitution to give more power to citizens (…) and the right to dismiss elected officials”, he explained live from Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), where he is organizing a meeting.
To restore purchasing power to the French, their main concern, the LFI candidate would first block prices, increase salaries, and strengthen the public service. “I want to stop this spiral of social abuse”, he shouted. It also affirms the need to get out of nuclear power, because “It’s dangerous and we have the means to do otherwise”. Finally, if he had to choose a public figure to enter his government, it would be the astronaut Thomas Pesquet, “certainly one of the French people who is most aware that there is only one ecosystem and one human people”.
