Tragic Loss in Lio’s Family

A heart-wrenching tragedy has struck the family of singer Lio, following the untimely death of her youngest son, Diego. Reports indicate that he may have taken his own life through self-immolation near Charles de Gaulle Airport in the Paris region. The news was first reported by Paris Match on Tuesday, March 4, after Diego had been missing since Sunday, March 2. His family had expressed deep concern, prompting searches that led to the involvement of the Brigade for the Repression of Delinquency Against the Person (BRDP) from the Paris judicial police.

Sisters’ Desperate Search and Heartbreaking Confirmation

In a desperate bid to locate their brother, Diego’s sisters took to social media to appeal for witnesses. Nubia, Esmeralda, Garance, and Léa worked tirelessly to gather information before ultimately sharing the devastating news that the search had come to a tragic end. One sister shared a poignant message online, stating, “My brother is dead. Please do not send me messages. Thank you for your shares.”

According to reports from Voici, Diego was in a “psychotic” state at the time of his disappearance. His sisters had previously raised alarms about his mental health, with Esmeralda noting, “My brother has been missing for 6 hours, without a phone. He is very unwell psychologically.” Despite the shocking news, Lio has remained silent on the matter, although she has been open about the challenges her children have faced over the years.

As a mother of six children from four different fathers, Lio has candidly discussed the difficulties her family has encountered. In a past interview with France Inter, she revealed, “It has been so hard for many, many, many years… They were not doing well.” She acknowledged the struggle to balance her relationships and motherhood, admitting that her focus on her personal life overshadowed her children’s needs for attention and support.

In this difficult time, Lio has received support from her other children and fellow artists, including Jeanne Mas. The 1980s pop icon expressed her condolences on social media, encouraging Lio to remain strong during this devastating ordeal. Isabelle Mergault, a renowned actress and adoptive mother, also shared her heartbreak, emphasizing the immense pain Lio must be feeling as a mother.

Recently, Lio had been actively working on a participatory album project and advocating against violence towards women, demonstrating her commitment to important causes even amidst personal turmoil.
