Discover the New Apple Intelligence Features in iOS 18.4 Now Available in Germany

Apple has confirmed the launch of its AI, ‘Apple Intelligence,’ in Germany starting April, with a beta version available for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models. Features include an enhanced Mail app, dynamic writing tools, ‘Image Playground’ for image generation, custom ‘Genmojis,’ and improved Siri functionalities. Users can access these AI capabilities on compatible iPads and Macs through the developer beta. The rollout will also extend to Apple Vision Pro in April, initially in English.

For quite some time, there has been a buzz surrounding the potential launch of Apple’s proprietary AI, dubbed ‘Apple Intelligence,’ in Germany. Now, Apple has officially confirmed that the rollout will commence in April. However, eager users can get a sneak peek at the exciting new features right now—if they meet certain criteria.

With the introduction of the first iOS 18.4 beta, Apple Intelligence is finally making its debut in Germany, albeit initially limited to public beta testers. Those not enrolled in the beta program will have to wait until April to access this significant update. To enjoy the cutting-edge features of Apple Intelligence, having the right iPhone model is essential.

Join the Beta Tester Community

Apple Intelligence is exclusively available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models, including the newly released iPhone 16e. Users with older devices will only see minor enhancements with iOS 18.4.

If you’re eager to experience the latest AI functionalities firsthand, becoming a beta tester is a straightforward process. Check out our linked article for detailed instructions on how to get started.

Exciting New Features Await

Among the various enhancements, you’ll find the integration of vacuum robots into the Home app, alongside new emojis such as a harp, shovel, and fingerprint. The true innovations stem from the capabilities of Apple Intelligence:

Revamped Mail App

Apple Intelligence will be seamlessly woven into the Mail app. The user interface is set for a redesign, with AI taking charge of organizing your emails into designated categories:

This categorization feature is enabled by default but can be switched to a chronological layout via the settings. The AI is also capable of summarizing lengthy emails and suggesting appropriate replies. Plus, expect an enhanced search functionality powered by AI.

Dynamic Writing Tools

A new writing tool enables you to modify the tone of your text—whether you want it to sound more friendly or professional. The rewrite feature goes even further, allowing you to rephrase text creatively, such as transforming it into a poem. This feature is integrated directly into the iOS keyboard, making it easy to adjust messages within apps like WhatsApp.

Image Playground

Introducing ‘Image Playground,’ an app that empowers you to generate images based on your creative ideas. Much like ChatGPT, you simply enter descriptive text, and the app produces relevant images in either animated or illustrated styles—realistic depictions are not available.

The app includes predefined categories such as themes, locations, and costumes for inspiration. Additionally, you can convert photos from your gallery or simple sketches from the notes app into unique AI-generated artworks.

Create Your Own Genmoji

Say goodbye to traditional emojis! With Apple Intelligence, you can design your very own ‘Genmojis.’ Just describe your concept or upload a selfie, and the AI will craft a personalized emoji-style image. The best part? Genmojis are compatible with Rich Text (RTI), allowing Android users to receive and view them seamlessly.

Visual Intelligence

A particularly useful feature for everyday tasks is Visual Intelligence. You can point your camera at public places, such as restaurants, to instantly receive information about their opening hours, reviews, or popular menu items.

The tool can also read text aloud, recognize phone numbers and addresses for easy addition to your contacts, and scan products to find their availability in stores.

Enhanced Siri Experience

Siri stands to gain significantly from Apple Intelligence as the assistant now comprehends context better and can build on previous inquiries. You can ask multiple questions consecutively without needing to repeat yourself—making interactions feel more fluid and natural. Furthermore, Siri will remember your preferences and respond to specific commands, such as ‘Play my favorite podcast,’ with follow-up questions also possible.

Thanks to a collaboration with OpenAI, Siri can delegate complex requests to ChatGPT for more precise answers. Meanwhile, Apple aims to handle many AI tasks locally on the iPhone, enhancing data privacy.

While it’s uncertain if all of these features will launch in April, Apple has indicated that Apple Intelligence will ‘gain additional features in the coming months, including more options for Siri.’ It appears that users might have to await a few more months for additional Siri enhancements.

Apple Intelligence on Mac and iPad

If you lack a compatible iPhone but still want to explore the AI features, you can access most functionalities on an iPad or MacBook. To do this, you need to participate in the developer beta for iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4. Specific hardware requirements apply; however, owners of an iPad Pro shouldn’t face any issues. The AI is also compatible with the iPad Air (4th generation), the standard iPad (9th generation), and the iPad mini (6th generation). Moreover, any Macs powered by at least an M1 chip will be able to take advantage of these AI features.

Additionally, Apple Intelligence is set to be introduced to the Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 2.4 starting in April, though initially only available in English. According to Apple, this will revolutionize how users communicate.
