Excitement is building for the anticipated release of GTA 6 in fall 2025, confirmed by Take-Two Interactive. CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the timeline while acknowledging potential risks. He hinted at future support for the Nintendo Switch 2, suggesting broader accessibility for GTA 6.

Excitement Builds for GTA 6’s Release

Take-Two Interactive has once again confirmed the arrival of one of the most eagerly awaited video games of 2025—GTA 6. Although the publisher remains cautious about potential last-minute complications, they express confidence in meeting the anticipated launch window. CEO Strauss Zelnick stated, “There is always a risk of slipping, and I think that as soon as we say things like ‘absolutely,’ we bring bad luck. But we are very confident” regarding the release timeline for GTA 6.

Platforms and Future Possibilities

As it stands, GTA 6 is scheduled for release in the fall of 2025 exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no additional details provided at this time. Fans are eagerly awaiting an official release date, which is also crucial for other companies in the gaming industry as they plan their schedules. The ripple effect of GTA 6’s release will likely prompt various developers to adjust their line-up announcements accordingly.

While GTA 6 is currently being developed for next-gen consoles, Zelnick ensures that no player will be left behind. Addressing concerns about the Xbox Series S’s capabilities, he remarked, “We support the platforms where consumers are, and we find a way to support the platforms despite the different levels of technology. […] I’m not really worried and I’ve never been worried about the evolution of hardware.”

Furthermore, the potential for a PC version of GTA 6 opens up possibilities for even broader accessibility, including the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Zelnick noted a shift in perception regarding Nintendo’s audience, stating, “There was a time when Nintendo consoles were really aimed at a younger audience, which was reflected in our release schedule. Today, with the Nintendo Switch and potentially with the Nintendo Switch 2, the console can appeal to all audiences.” This suggests a promising opportunity for GTA 6 on Nintendo’s next console.

Adding to the speculation, Zelnick pointed out that Civilization 7 is already available on Switch, indicating Take-Two’s intent to support the new platform. “While we have nothing specific to announce, we do intend to support the Switch 2,” he confirmed, leaving fans hopeful for a GTA 6 release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
