As for restaurants, the recovery is confirmed, and Rungis (Val-de-Marne) is waking up again: the gigantic wholesale market for fresh produce is seeing its activity pick up again.

The belly of Paris and France, as it is often called, is slowly restarting. The halls of the largest French wholesale market are rediscovering their ant-hill appearance. The total reopening of Parisian restaurants last Monday accelerated the recovery. Stéphane Milan, chef restaurateur in Sceaux (Hauts-de-Seine) in the Parisian suburbs, is used to the place and comes back to choose his products three times a week. “We are starting to gently resume our habits, we are still trying to limit the quantities, we do not overload: I prefer to come back (…) to make the supplement”, he explains.

A return that delights its fruit and vegetable wholesaler whose activity had fallen by 70% during confinement. “It’s nice to see them again, indeed”, confirms David Fichou, a first at Vinas, for whom the confinement “was very hard”. But for the restaurateur, there is no question of refueling: the recovery remains mixed. His restaurant only carries half of the usual 140 covers for the moment.
