The leader of Beijing, Xi Jinping, clearly intends to impose a new moral order on young consciences which would be perverted by the Westernization of minds. In China, piercings and tattoos are now banned, and video games restricted.
Today in China, it is not good to wear piercings or tattoos on the skin. It can even deprive a player of joining the national football team. For the communist power, it is necessary to set a good example, even as tattoos are more and more popular in China. Since the coming to power of President Xi Jinping, the screw has been tightening ever more tightly on society. All Chinese are supposed to be looking in the same direction, more nationalistic than ever.
Getting back in hand starts at an early age, at school. The authorities also call video games “the opium of the people”, and limit their use. The values imposed by the party must be virile and patriotic. “For a year or two, the president has decided to attack morals. We need a population that is not affected by decadence“, explains Jean-Philippe Béja, sinologist at the CNRS.new family law, now seen as an accomplice if a child goes off track. The situation should not change any time soon: next fall, the party should renew the mandate of Xi Jinping, for the next five years at least.
