The 96 deaths bring the daily average to 53. Deaths have doubled in the past week. This is the worst toll since the end of the first wave of the pandemic. We have to go back to May 14, 2020 to find a higher balance sheet.

The 3,195 people hospitalized represent an increase of 39% over one week. Among them, 275 are in intensive care.

Hospitalizations still haven’t peaked, and continue to climb. On Friday, 470 people were admitted to hospital while 360 were discharged.

Public Health also counts 6,705 new cases of COVID-19, which brings the average of daily cases calculated over seven days to 8,789. The trend is down 43% over one week. However, this data is no longer representative of the evolution of the pandemic in the province, since access to screening is limited.

Regarding vaccination, 85.4% of Quebecers received a first dose of vaccine, 78.2% received two, and 29% received three.

All people aged 18 and over can make their appointment to get their third dose of the vaccine since Friday.

Nearly 4,000 hospitalizations in Ontario

Ontario has 3,957 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 558 in intensive care.

The situation on the hospital front continues to worsen in the neighboring province of Quebec. The new toll represents an increase of 143 hospitalizations. Intensive care units are caring for 31 more patients than the day before.

The number of patients requiring ventilators has increased from 288 to 319.

10,732 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded, but Public Health recalls that this toll is probably higher, since screening is now aimed at priority clienteles.
