Wildcats Paternion: Aiming for Championship Glory

The Wildcats Paternion are on a determined quest for the championship title, currently leading the standings and showcasing their hard work and team spirit. Sandra Anton, a key player and board member, shares her insights on the team’s current momentum and the unique experience of training on natural ice.

The Importance of Teamwork and Training

According to Sandra Anton, being at the top of the KEHV women’s league standings feels extraordinary. “It’s a testament to our dedication and commitment this season,” she explains. “It confirms that we are heading in the right direction.” The team’s cohesion and tactical execution have been impressive, with a solid defense and a growing offensive strategy. However, she notes that maintaining consistency throughout the game remains an area for improvement.

Training sessions are held twice a week in Paternion, which only has ice from late December to early February. During the rest of the year, the team practices at the Spittal ice rink, allowing for regular training. “We are fortunate to partner with Spittal, who accommodates our schedule, especially when conditions permit us to train on our natural ice,” Sandra adds. This flexibility is essential for the team’s preparation and overall performance.

Training on natural ice presents its own challenges and advantages. “It’s a unique experience that carries our traditions,” Sandra remarks. The limited window for practicing on natural ice means the team must adapt quickly, but the bond formed during these sessions strengthens their teamwork and skills.

Coordination with the men’s team also enhances their training experience. “We organize our sessions to complement theirs, which allows our coaches to participate fully,” she explains. The camaraderie extends beyond the ice, as players often join forces to maintain the rink, demonstrating the dedication and spirit of the club.

As both a player and board member, Sandra balances her time between physical training and organizational responsibilities. “Each role is demanding in its own way, but I appreciate working with a coordinated board team that shares the same passion,” she states.

Volunteering plays a crucial role in the success of sports clubs, and Sandra is deeply committed to this cause. “Without volunteers, many clubs wouldn’t survive. It’s fulfilling to contribute to our community and help develop the sport,” she emphasizes.

Having been part of the club since its inception in 2016, Sandra takes pride in the team’s journey and the milestones they have achieved. “What makes the Wildcats Paternion special is our team spirit, ambition, and the deep bonds between us. We are more than just teammates; we are a family,” she shares. The connection to their natural ice is an essential part of their identity, further enriching their experience as a team.
