Bouygues Telecom Launches Innovative Box Featuring Genuine WiFi 7 Technology

Bouygues Telecom has introduced the Bbox WiFi 7, marking a significant advancement in connectivity as the first certified fiber box for WiFi 7 in France. With speeds up to 7 Gb/s and features like Multi Link Operation for enhanced device connectivity, the Bbox aims to revolutionize user experiences, especially in gaming. It includes eco-friendly design elements, a touchscreen interface, and compatibility with tri-band repeaters. Set to launch on January 27, it underscores Bouygues’ leadership in the Wi-Fi market.

Introducing the Bbox WiFi 7: A New Era of Connectivity

The year 2025 is set to be a landmark moment for the adoption of WiFi 7 technology. Following the launch of Free’s Freebox Ultra and just ahead of Orange’s anticipated Livebox 7, Bouygues Telecom has unveiled its latest innovation: the Bbox WiFi 7, which was announced on January 16. This new box is designed to support the cutting-edge wireless communication standard, positioning Bouygues as a key player in the competitive telecom market.

To distinguish itself from competitors like Free, Bouygues Telecom proudly claims to be the first provider in France to offer a fiber box that is certified for WiFi 7. This certification ensures compliance with all the essential features outlined by the WiFi Alliance, the global authority on wireless technology standards.

What Makes WiFi 7 Special?

WiFi 7 is engineered to provide theoretical speeds of up to 7 Gb/s, making it a game-changer with speeds potentially three times faster than its predecessor, WiFi 6. This new standard promises not only faster connections but also enhanced stability, lower latency, and greater capacity to handle multiple devices.

One standout feature of WiFi 7 is the Multi Link Operation (MLO) mode, which allows devices to connect to several frequency bands at once securely. Bouygues Telecom highlighted that with these advancements, users will be able to download an entire series in mere seconds or start playing a newly purchased video game almost instantly, eliminating frustrating micro-disconnections. The combination of high speed and reduced latency aims to revolutionize the gaming experience.

The Bbox WiFi 7 can be paired with two tri-band repeaters, also certified for WiFi 7, to ensure “exceptional connection fluidity” as users move throughout their homes. Maintaining the sleek vertical design of previous models allows for effective heat dissipation without the need for a fan, ensuring quiet operation.

Equipped with XGS-PON compatibility, the Bbox WiFi 7 features:

  • Four antennas for each frequency band
  • One native 10G Ethernet port
  • Two 1G Ethernet ports

Users can manage their Bbox easily through a touchscreen interface on the front or via the revamped Bouygues Telecom app, which now includes parental controls to manage children’s screen time.

In a commitment to sustainability, the new Bbox has been eco-designed to promote longevity and reduce environmental impact. Over 90% of the casing is made from recycled plastic, and the packaging is completely plastic-free.

Starting January 27, the Bbox WiFi 7 will be available exclusively in Bouygues Telecom stores as part of the Bbox ultym Wi-Fi 7 offer, which includes fiber connection setup, equipment installation, and technician support.

Bouygues Telecom: Leading the WiFi Revolution in France

As the launch of the Bbox WiFi 7 approaches, Bouygues Telecom’s reputation as a leader in Wi-Fi connectivity in France is reinforced by the latest nPerf barometer of fixed internet connections.
