Discover the January 15 Tax Credit Advance
The General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP) has announced an “average payment of 639 euros per beneficiary household” aimed at “just over 9 million tax households.” This advance on tax credits and reductions is set to be transferred on Wednesday, January 15, as revealed by the Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, Éric Lombard, alongside the Minister in charge of Public Accounts, Amélie de Montchalin.
This advance has become a regular occurrence for the millions of households benefiting from tax credits and reductions since its introduction in 2019. It was established to ensure that these households are not disadvantaged under the withholding tax reform. Although monthly deductions are made from your income for the current year, the actual benefits from your tax credits and reductions for 2025 (based on 2024 income) will not be available until next summer. The advance serves to provide immediate relief, amounting to 60% of your typical tax advantage, calculated from last year’s credits and reductions.
What to Expect with an Average Advance of 639 Euros
Curious about how much you’ll receive? The exact amount of the advance will be accessible on impots.gouv.fr. The DGFiP will send an information letter digitally to the over 9 million beneficiary households in preparation for the January 15 transfer. If you qualify, expect to receive a notification via email.
On average, each beneficiary household will receive 639 euros, marking a slight increase from last year’s average of 634 euros and 624 euros in 2022. In total, the tax authorities will distribute approximately 5.8 billion euros, as announced by Bercy on January 8.
The DGFiP transfer, scheduled for next Wednesday, may appear on your online account statement as ” Advance CredImpot ,” similar to previous years.
What To Do If Your Bank Details Are Missing
Do you need to take action to receive this advance? The answer is no. The DGFiP will automatically transfer the funds to eligible households without requiring any request.
However, if the tax authorities lack your bank details, there is an exception. Last year, around 183,000 tax households fell into this category. Those without a known IBAN will receive their advance in the form of a check sent by mail by the end of January, which can be cashed directly at their bank.
For those wondering, “Why is the DGFiP not paying me an advance on credits and reductions?” it’s essential to check if your information is up to date with the tax services to ensure you receive your benefits on time.
