A new travel guide for mobile workers

This travel guide for nomadic workers had to be invented! “But at the same time it’s quite logical, because teleworking has really developed with the pandemic, whereas until then it was quite exceptional.”

Editor-in-chief of travel magazine Getaway, Saliha Hadj-Djilani signs this guide for Petit Futé. And she knows what she’s talking about since she herself is a nomadic journalist and currently works from Dubai.

“And we feel good because the nomadic worker is not an expatriate, he is someone who will choose a place where he can combine business with pleasure by having all the leisure activities nearby. “

The city of Caen in Normandy is one of the 29 destinations selected

“It has a lot of advantages, already because the sea is not far away, we breathe. We also benefit from culture, with in particular the Caen Memorial. And the town has developed coworking spaces in a spectacular way, including are part of MoHo and AIA Life Designers, a sort of hive of teleworkers in all fields. And for me, there is nothing similar today in France, so it would be a shame to miss it”, says Saliha Hadj-Djilani.

The Luberon and its pleasant climate also attract many nomadic workers. “It’s true that it’s ideal for recharging your batteries and working at the same time. But be careful with the Internet connection! It’s sometimes complicated. You have to be careful because if you find yourself in the Luberon with only the cicadas, it’s going to go wrong, but it’s explained well in the guide.”

“It is ideal for the nomadic worker, since you have nature nearby, Internet very easily, apartments at reasonable prices, even if Annecy is still an expensive city. It offers everything you need, and of course , a good Savoyard fondue in winter!”

For a studious stay in Italian dolce vita mode, Saliha Hadj-Djilani suggests landing in Naples, which attracts nomadic workers in the creative sector.

“We are still on the edge of the Tyrrhenian Sea, it is one of the most beautiful bays in the world! We are not far from Capri either. And there are plenty of options for accommodation such as Airbnb which works very well, but there are also a lot of small hostels at very competitive rates, some of them host a lot of artists, graphic designers… It’s not a business city, that may seem contradictory, but at the on the contrary, for a nomadic worker, this is exactly what is needed.”

From France to Canada via Vietnam or Spain, The nomadic worker’s guide du Petit Futé details all the administrative formalities to know for each destination. Another strong point, in addition to accommodation, restaurants and outings, it gives very useful practical information on the various professional networks.
