Reviewing the Mobvoi Ticwatch Atlas: A High-Performance Wear OS Smartwatch with Impressive Battery Longevity

Mobvoi has unveiled the Ticwatch Atlas, a smartwatch tailored for sports enthusiasts, featuring a sturdy design and innovative dual-screen technology for extended battery life. It includes a vibrant 1.43-inch OLED display, a secondary low-power LCD, and offers smooth performance with the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor. With over 110 training modes, accurate fitness tracking, and impressive battery longevity of up to 90 hours, the Ticwatch Atlas is an ideal companion for active users.

Introducing the Mobvoi Ticwatch Atlas: A Sports-Focused Smartwatch

Building on the success of the Ticwatch Pro 5 and its Enduro variant, Mobvoi has launched the Ticwatch Atlas, a smartwatch designed with sports enthusiasts in mind. This innovative device retains the key features of its predecessors, especially the smart dual-screen technology aimed at maximizing battery life. We took the Ticwatch Atlas for a spin and here’s what we think about this sporty model.

Key Features and Design

The Ticwatch Atlas impresses with its robust and sporty design. Its round case mirrors the aesthetic of the Ticwatch Pro 5, but with added functionality in the form of a notched, graduated bezel that not only enhances its active look but also protects the display. The watch features a 24 mm strap made from flexible fluorinated rubber, designed for comfort during workouts. Users can easily switch out the strap thanks to a standard lug system, allowing for customization with any compatible 24 mm strap available on the market.

Measuring 52.2 x 47.8 x 12.05 mm and weighing 47.2 g without the strap, the design is slightly wider on the wrist due to a subtle protrusion on the side. Decorative elements like engraved grooves and faux screws add to the sporty aesthetic of the smartwatch.

Innovative Dual-Screen Technology

The Ticwatch Atlas boasts an impressive dual-screen setup. The main display is a vibrant 1.43-inch OLED panel, while the secondary low-power LCD screen activates when the watch is idle, extending battery longevity. Although this dual-screen feature allows for exceptional battery performance, it does come with a caveat: the power-saving screen can be difficult to read in direct sunlight due to its sensitivity to reflections.

The OLED screen offers a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels with a pixel density of 326 ppi, ensuring clear visibility even in bright conditions. Both displays are shielded by sapphire glass, known for its scratch resistance, making it a smart addition for outdoor enthusiasts. Additionally, the Ticwatch Atlas includes an always-on mode utilizing the OLED display, though this may shorten the time between charges.

Smooth Performance and App Compatibility

Powered by the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor and equipped with 2 GB of RAM, the Ticwatch Atlas delivers smooth navigation through its Wear OS 4.0 interface. With 32 GB of onboard storage, users can conveniently store music and maps for offline GPS functionality, though it’s worth noting that the operating system occupies some of this space.

To get the most out of the Ticwatch Atlas, users need to sync it with the Mobvoi Health app on an Android smartphone, as it is not compatible with iOS devices. This companion app allows users to track their health data and install additional Wear OS apps from the Google Play Store, expanding the watch’s capabilities with popular applications like Spotify and Google Maps.

Accurate Sports Tracking Features

The Ticwatch Atlas stands out for its reliable fitness tracking features, recording daily steps, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and stress levels. We tested the GPS accuracy by comparing the watch’s readings to a Google Pixel 7 smartphone. The majority of the route tracked by the Ticwatch was dependable, despite minor discrepancies.

For heart rate monitoring, we conducted a comparison against a Garmin HRM Pro Plus heart rate monitor. Overall, the Ticwatch Atlas demonstrated satisfactory accuracy, although some readings showed slight inconsistencies. Nevertheless, the differences were minimal, making it a trustworthy option for most athletes.

Comprehensive Sports Functions and Impressive Battery Life

With over 110 training modes available, the Ticwatch Atlas caters to a wide variety of sports, from running and cycling to skiing and walking. Some tracking options may appear unconventional, but the extensive selection ensures users can find suitable modes for their fitness routines.

When it comes to battery life, the Ticwatch Atlas can last up to 90 hours on a single charge. We conducted our own tests to verify this claim, tracking performance from full charge to depletion under real-world conditions. The results confirm that this smartwatch is an excellent choice for users seeking longevity in their wearable technology.
