Cadillac has introduced the Vistiq, a new electric SUV measuring 5.22 meters, designed to compete in the European market. Powered by a 102 kWh battery, it delivers 615 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The luxurious interior accommodates six passengers and features advanced technology, including a 33-inch curved LED screen and a premium audio system. With safety innovations and various trims available, the Vistiq could enhance Cadillac’s presence in Europe, despite its size challenges.
The Cadillac Vistiq: A New Player in the Electric SUV Market
European vehicles are typically more compact compared to their American counterparts. Therefore, when Cadillac unveils an impressive new SUV measuring 5.22 meters in length, it raises eyebrows regarding its potential debut in Europe.
A Cutting-Edge Powertrain
Cadillac has made a significant return to Europe with its electric offerings, introducing the Lyriq and the Optiq. This lineup suggests that the American brand is not out of touch with the preferences of European consumers.
Additionally, the Vistiq could serve as a third model in their electric range. This SUV is the electric variant of the Cadillac XT6, which is exclusive to North America. Equipped with two electric motors, the Vistiq boasts a formidable 615 horsepower and a torque of 880 Nm. Impressively, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, outpacing the legendary Corvette C6 Z06, which was once the benchmark of performance within General Motors.
The Vistiq is powered by a substantial 102 kWh battery, offering a range of approximately 480 kilometers (300 miles) according to Cadillac’s EPA cycle, which is known to be more stringent than the European WLTP standards. This could translate to a theoretical range of around 530 kilometers if it were to be sold in Europe, indicating a very high energy consumption.
An interesting feature of this battery is its Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) system, enabling the SUV to supply power to your home’s electrical grid. This capability allows owners to benefit from lower rates during off-peak hours and provides a backup power source in case of outages—an invaluable asset in regions prone to severe weather events.
Impressive Dimensions and Luxurious Interior
As highlighted earlier, the Cadillac Vistiq is a sizeable vehicle. With dimensions of 5.22 meters in length, 2.02 meters in width, and 1.80 meters in height, it stands out in the crowded SUV market. For context, it is larger than popular models like the Audi Q7, BMW XM, Bentley Bentayga, and Mercedes EQS SUV.
Its bold exterior features a striking dark grille known as the Black Crystal Shield, along with a unique light signature made up of sleek LED bars reminiscent of Peugeot’s “lion’s teeth.” The profile is further accentuated by massive 23-inch chrome wheels, complemented by glossy black wheel arches, and a gracefully sloped windshield that adds to its dynamic aesthetic.
Inside, the Vistiq offers a luxurious experience akin to that of a private jet. The interior is designed to accommodate six passengers with four individual seats and a third row featuring two seats. Each passenger enjoys ample space, smartphone storage, and cup holders, typical of American vehicles. A large sunroof enhances the cabin’s brightness, with a fixed panoramic roof above the third row.
In terms of technology, the Vistiq is equipped with an AKG Studio audio system featuring 23 speakers and Dolby Atmos for an unparalleled audio experience. The dashboard boasts a stunning 33-inch curved LED screen that integrates driving data and infotainment seamlessly. Additionally, a screen on the center console manages the five-zone automatic climate control system.
Safety features include blind spot steering assistance, cyclist alerts, forward collision warnings, OnStar’s automatic collision response, and night vision capabilities that detect pedestrians and animals in low-light conditions.
The Cadillac Vistiq launches with three trims: Luxury, Sport, and Premium Luxury, with a Platinum trim expected in summer 2025. In the United States, the starting price is set at $78,790, excluding taxes and dealer fees.
While Cadillac has not yet confirmed plans for a European release, the electric powertrain aligns well with local market expectations. However, its substantial size could pose challenges in meeting European standards. Nevertheless, the introduction of a third model would certainly diversify Cadillac’s offerings in Europe.
