Arrived from the United States in the 1970s, the jukebox was the inseparable object of an era. Collectors and nostalgics are snatching them up today at exorbitant prices.

More than a music box, the jukebox is a real time machine. This mythical and essential device, forever associated with rock’n’roll, is now enjoying a second life. It first catches the eye with its play of light. Once the title has been selected, an impressive mechanism is set in motion: the basket rotates, the arm rises, grabs and places the disc.

The jukebox succeeded the no less famous phonograph. But the invention of the amplifier, which allows you to turn up the sound and wiggle your hips on the dance floor, has revolutionized everything. Then appears the term jukebox, which means: “the box to dance”. The device, synonymous with carelessness, is now making a strong comeback, thanks to collectors, addicted to period models. Matthieu Defoly, manager of Orpheau, has even created a stylish and connected jukebox. Sale price: 23,000 euros on average.
