Mike Cees, a reality TV contestant, faced a fraud trial in 2021 that resulted in a €4,000 fine, which he has not paid despite multiple summons. As a consequence, he risks an 80-day prison sentence. Cees claims innocence and argues against the fine, preferring imprisonment over payment. Recently, he was reportedly arrested in Munich after attending his girlfriend’s birthday celebration, although official confirmation is pending. His behavior has drawn criticism, as he continues to flaunt a lavish lifestyle.
In 2021, Mike Cees found himself embroiled in a fraud case that remained under wraps until October 20, 2024. Recent reports from a German newspaper revealed that a trial led to a substantial fine of €4,000, which Cees has yet to pay—despite numerous summons.
This unwillingness to settle could have serious consequences for him. The reality TV contestant from ‘Prominent Getrennt’ is potentially facing an 80-day jail sentence for failing to fulfill a court order. Cees describes the entire situation as a ‘scandal,’ but what led to this predicament?
Arrest Warrant: The 2021 Fraud Case
According to senior public prosecutor Kai Münch, Cees was fined for fraud-related charges three years prior. “Mr. Monballijn was ordered to pay a fine of €4,000 but has not done so, despite several reminders. This could result in an 80-day prison term if he remains noncompliant,” Münch explained. Reports indicate that the arrest warrant was issued in early September 2024.
Since Cees is still registered in Brandenburg, the public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt/Oder is leading the proceedings. Allegedly, accusations against him stem from a disgruntled business partner who claimed that Cees failed to honor certain financial agreements.
Cees Maintains His Innocence, Preferring Jail Time
The entrepreneur firmly believes he is not at fault and would rather face imprisonment than pay the fine. On a phone call, he acknowledged awareness of the arrest warrant and stated:
“I have cooperated with the person who made the complaint. I’m not giving money to someone who attempted to deceive me. I’d prefer a few days in jail instead.”
Life in Dubai and Social Media Updates
While Cees hasn’t revealed his current location, he has portrayed himself as a Dubai expatriate on Instagram for several months. In July, he dubbed Dubai his ‘home’ while wearing traditional Arabic attire and explained, “Dubai always brings me closer to myself.”
Critics have called his actions ‘brazen.’ Instead of maintaining a low profile, he has reportedly been traveling frequently between Switzerland and Munich. His girlfriend, Delia Rösch, resides in Munich, and they were recently spotted together at her birthday celebration on October 19 at the Augustiner Drei Mühlen brewery.
Potential Arrest Amid Celebrations
The celebration may have taken a turn for the worse for Cees. Early on October 21, Delia shared an Instagram story featuring a photograph of Mike being detained by two plainclothes officers. The image, though slightly obscured, clearly shows Cees with his hands restrained.
Delia captioned the post, “The best Saturday and the worst Sunday of the year in one weekend,” accompanying it with a tearful emoji. However, there is currently no official confirmation regarding his arrest following the birthday festivities in Munich.
