It was Maud Bregeon, the government spokesperson, who announced it on Sunday October 13: “Proposals formulated at national level which will call for new legislative provisions. A new immigration law will be necessary to adapt a certain number of provisions.”

The future text must in particular make it possible to extend the period of administrative detention of illegal immigrants deemed dangerous. It would go from 90 to 210 days, which is currently only possible in the event of a terrorist offense. Immigration is at the heart of the government project.
