San Jose Sharks | Macklin Celebrini sidelined with lower body injury

(San Jose) Top draft pick Macklin Celebrini has been placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, the San Jose Sharks said Saturday.

Lower body problems had slowed him down during the preparatory calendar.

His case will be evaluated from week to week, said coach Ryan Warsofsky.

In his NHL debut Thursday, Celebrini had a goal and an assist in San Jose’s 5-4 loss to St. Louis.

Last season, Celebrini had 32 goals and 64 points with Boston University in 38 games.

The British Columbian won the Hobey Baker Trophy, awarded to the NCAA MVP.
