A new situation will be organized on October 17 on a military site in the Paris region in the case of the Chevaline killings, France Bleu Pays de Savoie learned on Friday October 11 from a source close to the case, confirming information from RTL.
According to France Bleu Pays de Savoie, it was the “cold case” center of Nanterre which decided to organize this new situation, twelve years after the still unclear facts. No witnesses must participate in this new situation. On the other hand, all the victims’ lawyers were invited by the investigating judges, namely the lawyers of the Al-Hilli family (William Bourdon and Colomba Grossi) and the lawyer of the sister of the deceased cyclist (Juliette Chapelle).
On September 5, 2012, a 50-year-old British man of Iraqi origin, Saad al-Hilli, his 47-year-old wife and his 74-year-old mother-in-law were found dead in their car, shot several times in the head, on a country road near Chevaline, not far from Lake Annecy. A cyclist from the region, Sylvain Mollier, 45, was also shot. One of the little girls of the al-Hilli couple was seriously injured while the second, curled up under her mother’s legs, escaped unharmed.
The national center in charge of unresolved cases (“cold cases”) based in Nanterre retrieved the file in September 2022 and is trying to elucidate this case with international repercussions.
