Part of Highway 15 is closed for an indefinite period due to a violent accident in the Sainte-Adèle sector. Currently, four people are between life and death.
The accident occurred around 2:20 p.m., around kilometer 64. A vehicle, which was traveling southbound, completely crossed the central reservation and violently collided with another vehicle, which was coming in the opposite direction, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Each of the two cars was carrying two people, all of whom were seriously injured following the collision. “We fear for the lives of the four passengers,” reported Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the SQ, around 6:30 p.m. After the impact, they were immediately transported to a hospital center.
Currently, the authorities are trying to reconstruct the events in order to determine the cause of the serious accident.
The highway is closed in the north direction, between Chemin du Mont-Gabriel and rue Desjardins, specifies the government website, Quebec 511. The left lane is also closed in the south direction. A detour has been temporarily put in place by the authorities.
The area should be avoided given the traffic congestion caused by the event, which occurs at the start of the Thanksgiving long weekend.
