The succession of Stéphane Séjourné is being organized. The Renaissance party congress will be held on November 23 and 24 and the election of the new secretary general of the party will take place on December 7, the Macronist party announced on Friday October 11. The former Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, is the only declared candidate at this stage, while her short-lived successor at Matignon, Gabriel Attal, is expected to run for the position.

The first step in the nomination process will consist of Renaissance members electing the members of the National Council, a sort of parliament of the party, on November 23 and 24. The National Council will then meet on December 7 to elect the replacement for Stéphane Séjourné, elected secretary general in 2022 and recently appointed European commissioner. Alongside the 150 elected members of the National Council, the departmental presidents and members of the executive office will also have the right to vote.
