Since 2011 and the start of the civil war in Syria, more than 6 million people have fled the country. One in six refugees has settled in Lebanon, now hit by Israeli bombings. The latter forced many Syrians to flee conflict once again.
The exodus, once again, to escape the war. Syrians are fleeing Lebanon, where they took refuge a long time ago, to return home. A country they never thought they would see again. The road back is arduous. In the heat, you have to walk for a long time, climb passes and avoid falls. Once they arrive on Syrian soil, exhausted families are immediately taken care of by humanitarian associations. They will be taken to a safer place.
“We were in an area constantly targeted by the Israeli air force. We had no choice”confides a Syrian refugee. In recent days, Israeli bombings have intensified in southern Lebanon, a Hezbollah stronghold. It is in this region that the majority of Syrian refugees lived. Since 2011 and the start of the civil war, more than 6 million people have fled Syria to neighboring countries. One in six refugees has settled in Lebanon. But the situation has changed: 400,000 Syrians have reportedly fled Lebanon in the last two weeks to return to their country of origin. A future still very uncertain.
