422: remember this number, it’s one of the keys to a good Margarita. Here is the (simple) recipe for this iconic cocktail by mixologist Kevin Sueiro.

According to mixologist Kevin Sueiro, “You need four ingredients to make a margarita: lemon, salt, tequila and you need a triple sec.” He explains that the triple sec par excellence is Cointreau, of which “the essences contained in the lime peels echo the very vegetal side of tequila and its aromatic profile”.

Kevin Sueiro mentions that he is “very easy to remember” thanks to the number 422 which corresponds to the ideal proportions: “4 centiliters of tequila, 2 centiliters of lemon and 2 centiliters of Cointreau”. He insists that “It’s a cocktail that is super simple, super easy to make at home”.

The mixologist details the steps: “We’re going to make a glass turn, take half a lemon and gently pass it over the edge, then dip the glass in a little fleur de sel.” He explains that “salt plays the role of flavor enhancer, it has a real interest in the margarita”.

After putting the ingredients in the shaker with ice, shake vigorously to create dilution and add texture. The margarita can then be served either on ice (“on the rocks” in the American style), or chilled after being shaken.
