The Russian army claimed, Thursday, October 10, to have struck two launchers of American Patriot anti-aircraft systems, expensive and valuable weapons delivered to Ukraine by its Western allies to face the daily bombings by the Kremlin forces. The Russian Defense Ministry, which provided the information in its daily report, however, did not specify when this took place.
The day before, the Russian army had broadcast on Telegram a video filmed from the sky purporting to show an Iskander missile strike on a Patriot battery in the Ukrainian region of Dnipro, in the center of the country. According to this source, one launcher of a Patriot system was destroyed and another damaged.
AFP is unable to confirm either these assertions or the authenticity of these images. This air defense system was first supplied to Ukraine in spring 2023 to enable the Ukrainian army to more effectively defend its cities and energy infrastructure.
