“The risk of conflagration, of regional war, which would inevitably impact Europe and the security of the French is there“, alert Thursday October 10 on France Inter Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the Armed Forces. He believes that the Middle East region is currently in the grip of “a gear that has never been so vicious“Faced with this observation, Sébastien Lecornu urges Israel to carry out a “proportionate response“.
The French Minister of the Armed Forces considers that he “should not underestimate the destabilization agenda of the Islamic Republic of Iran throughout the region“. Sébastien Lecornu also recalls that “Iran is a country proliferating on the nuclear field, maintaining a game with the enrichment threshold“.
Sébastien Lecornu therefore invites his “Israeli allies“not to fall into”the three traps set for him“. For the French minister, “the first trap is not respecting international law and humanitarian law“, as is the case “in Gaza” notably. “The second pitfall is to take a form of confidence in view of the recent successes of the Israeli army which are indisputable“, he adds. He also insists on “the strategic misunderstanding that is taking hold“between Israel and Tehran, each doing”of escalation a tool for de-escalation“.
Sébastien Lecornu accuses Israel and Iran of wanting “reestablish deterrence by having the last word“.”Except that we have seen since this summer that the machine is stalling and that this escalation only results in escalation“, regrets the Minister of the Armed Forces.
