Josman, a discreet rapper with growing success, will be the sole headliner of the 9th edition of the Hip Hop Symphonique, on November 14 at the Maison de la radio in Paris, the organizers announced on Wednesday October 9. This concert was designed as a creation around the French hip hop repertoire, where the artists perform pieces rearranged for the occasion, with the Radio France philharmonic orchestra and the jazz and gospel group The Ice Kream. MC Solaar, SCH, Chilla, Ninho and many other rappers have participated in previous editions. But for the first time, the concept varies: instead of welcoming several artists, Josman will be alone on stage.

“He is an important artist who has a lot of impact. But who is also extremely rare, who does not expose himself too much,” explained Bruno Laforestrie, producer of Symphonic Hip Hop, highlighting his “oratorical art”.

Discovered in 2016 with the introspective piece Into the voidthe rapper from Vierzon, in central France, has continued his rise since then: the thirty-year-old filled the Accor Arena in Paris for the first time in February. Of his albums with cryptic titles, the last, J.000.$, was certified gold (50,000 sales equivalent) and allowed him to obtain a nomination for the Victoires de la Musique 2024. He was also awarded several times at Les Flammes, a ceremony dedicated to rap and its trends. He will interpret “more than eleven titles” the time of a concert thought “with a beginning and an end”, slips Bruno Laforestrie.

Symphonic Hip Hop wants to build bridges between the worlds of rap and symphony, a priori distant, to bring audiences closer together. “It’s a musical creation project” with a “stage innovation”, notes its artistic director, Issam Krimi. “Music is the center of the story, it makes everyone curious, listening to each other,” he adds.

Free with online registration, the concert is also offered in chansign, the interpretation of music in sign language. It will be recorded and then broadcast in December on Mouv’ radio and its channels.
