With a power of 4 on a scale of 5, Hurricane Milton promises to be one of the worst storms to hit Florida (United States). Thousands of residents are already on the roads, while others have chosen to stay.
In Florida, endless lines of cars stretch as far as the eye can see on the roads. Hurricane Milton threatens the inhabitants of the American state. With explosive power, the storm carries winds of more than 250 km/h. It is expected to make landfall on the night of Thursday, October 10, just two weeks after Hurricane Helene. “I’m still scared, I have nightmares from the previous hurricane”explains a departing resident.
In an already devastated and bereaved area, the debris has not yet all been collected. They risk turning into dangerous projectiles when Milton surges. The hurricane is expected to hit the large Florida city of Tampa, with expected gusts of 180 km/h and torrential rain. If the mayor implores the inhabitants to flee, those who remain barricade themselves and block everything with sandbags. Gas stations are stormed to prepare for the worst.
