Assaults and incidents reported by doctors are up 27% for the year 2023, indicates the report from the Physician Safety Observatory, published each year by the Order of Physicians.
A medical office in Hauts-de-France, full of surveillance cameras on which the doctor always has an eye. A week ago, he was the victim of an attack in the middle of the afternoon. A young man bursts into the office. He doesn’t have an appointment. He is angry, his first act: decommissioning one of the cameras. “Then I hear banging on the door.”explains the victim. “He wanted a medical certificate, there was no emergency”adds the doctor.
The man was sentenced to one year in prison, six months of which were suspended. But the shock remains for the doctor who remains the only general practitioner in the city, accepting new patients. A tense situation that worries the secretary.
